Malachi Throne's Biography
Malachi Throne is a traveling player at heart through nearly 65 years of performing, starting as a boy soprano in Tom Sawyer at the 1939 New York World's Fair. He split his time between classes at Brooklyn College and Long Island University (he hoped to be an Englsh teacher) and acting in summer and winter stock.
After serving in Korean War, he turned acting full-time. His Off-Broadway roles include the legendary productions of The Iceman Cometh, The Three Penny Opera, Rocket To The Moon, Machinal and The Petty Bougeois. He eventually ended up on Broadway, where he appeared in Beckett, The Girls Against the Boys, Lorenzo, and The Legend of Lizzie. He also appeared at the Falmouth Playhouse and in the local APA Production of Twelfth Night at Boston's Theatre on the Common.
On the big screen, Malachi recently appeared in the Steven Spielberg film Catch Me If You Can. He is most familiar from his numerous television appearances, including roles on The West Wing; Law & Order; Star Trek; Star Trek: The Next Generation; Babylon 5; Melrose Place; The Rockford Files and such classic small screen series Batman; Hogan's Heroes; Lost In Space; The Twilight Zone; The Defenders; Studio One; Naked City; Robert Montgomery Presents; The Untouchables; Dragnet; 77 Sunset Strip; The Outer Limits; The Time Tunnel; as well as the soap operas The Edge of Night; Search For Tomorrow and All My Children.
Malachi is perhaps best known for his role as Noah Bain, opposite Robert Wagner, in the long running series It Takes A Thief. He has spent residencies with regional theatres including San Diego's Old Globe, San Francisco's Actors's Workshop, Los Angeles Inner City Repertory Company, A. P. A., Mark Taper Forum and Louisville Free Theatre. His voice has been heard on scores of commercials, including those for Revlon, American Plastics, Castrol, Jeep and Goodyear.
Malachi and his wife, Marjorie, reside in Southern California. They are the parents of two sons; Zachary, and actor/musician, and Joshua, a producer/unit production manager.
